As part of the Victorian Government's $167.83 million investment in Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) facility infrastructure, a new fit-for-purpose facility was delivered for the VICSES Cobram Unit at 34 Ritchie Road, Cobram, with street frontage on to Cobram-Koonoomoo Road.
Situated in the local government area of Moira, the new site will enables the Cobram Unit to continue to respond effectively to rescues, flood and storm and serve the local community through assistance to Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria and fire services throughout the state.
The Cobram Unit, which comprises 23 active members, responded to more than 440 requests for assistance over the past five years.
The new fit-for-purpose facility reflects the commitment and dedication of VICSES to the local community and enable an expansion of local services, while supporting the retention and recruitment of new volunteers.
In collaboration with VICSES, considerable consultation took place with the Cobram Unit, as well as the local council, affected parties and the community (as required), to ensure that the new facility meets the needs of a growing community, now and into the future.
