As part of the Victorian Government's $125 million investment in Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) facility infrastructure, the VICSES Chelsea Unit will be relocated from 99 Scotch Parade, Bonbeach, to 13 Ashley Park Drive, Chelsea Heights.
The VICSES Chelsea Unit has 58 active volunteer members who responded to 325 requests for assistance between July 2019 and June 2020. Incidents range from floods, trees down, damage to property and search-and-rescue operations in and around Mordialloc Beach.
The new site will enable the VICSES Chelsea Unit to continue to respond effectively to the local community and assist Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria and fire services throughout the state. With the new location acquired in October 2020, the project is now under construction.
The new fit-for-purpose facility will reflect VICSES' commitment and dedication to the local community and enable an expansion of local services, while supporting the retention and recruitment of new volunteers.
In collaboration with VICSES, we are undertaking considerable consultation with the Chelsea Unit, as well as the local council, affected parties and the local community (as required), to ensure that the new facility meets the needs of a growing community, now and into the future.
