As part of the Victorian Government's $167.83 million investment in Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) facility infrastructure, the VICSES Chelsea Unit has been relocated from 99 Scotch Parade, Bonbeach, to 13 Ashley Park Drive, Chelsea Heights.
The VICSES Chelsea Unit has 40 active volunteer members who responded to 504 requests for assistance in 2022. Incidents range from floods, trees down, damage to property and search-and-rescue operations in and around Mordialloc Beach.
The new site will enables the VICSES Chelsea Unit to continue to respond effectively to the local community and assist Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria and fire services throughout the state.
Construction commenced in January 2022 with principal building contractor, Lloyd group. The new fit-for-purpose facility reflects VICSES' commitment and dedication to the local community and enable an expansion of local services, while supporting the retention and recruitment of new volunteers.
In collaboration with VICSES, considerable consultation took place with the Chelsea Unit, as well as the local council, affected parties and the local community (as required), to ensure that the new facility meets the needs of a growing community, now and into the future.
