As part of the Victorian Government's $167.83 million investment in Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) facility infrastructure, the VICSES Northcote Unit has been relocated from Wingrove Street, Alphington to 102 Altona Street, Heidelberg Heights and the adjoining property at 446 Waterdale Road.

Upon operational readiness, the Unit will be renamed from VICSES Northcote to VICSES Heidelberg, reflecting the new address.

The VICSES Northcote Unit, which comprises of 36 active members, responded to more than 700 requests for assistance each year. 

Situated in the local government area of Banyule, the new site will enable the Northcote Unit to continue to respond effectively to the local community and assist Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria and fire services throughout the state.The new fit-for-purpose facility will reflect VICSES' commitment and dedication to the local community and enable an expansion of local services, while supporting the retention and recruitment of new volunteers. In collaboration with VICSES, considerable consultation took place with the Northcote Unit, as well as the local council, affected parties and the local community (as required), to ensure that the new facility meets the needs of a growing community, now and into the future.
