As part of the Victorian Government's $125 million investment in Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) facility infrastructure, the VICSES Essendon Unit has been extended and upgraded at 9 Rutherford Street, Aberfeldie.
The VICSES Essendon Unit, which comprises 46 active members, responded to more than 160 requests for assistance in 2018-19.
Situated in the local government area of Moonee Valley, the expanded site enables the Essendon Unit to continue to respond effectively to the local community and assist Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria and fire services throughout the state.
The expanded fit-for-purpose facility reflects VICSES' commitment and dedication to the local community and enables an expansion of its local services, while supporting the retention and recruitment of new volunteers.
In collaboration with VICSES, considerable consultation took place with the Essendon Unit, as well as the local council, affected parties and the local community, to ensure that the new facility meets the needs of a growing community, now and into the future.
