In the 2021-22 State Budget, the Victorian Government allocated $11.349 million for the construction of the new Williamstown Swimming and Life Saving Club (SLSC) facility.
Situated in the local government area of Hobsons Bay, the Williamstown SLSC plays an important role in the safety of swimmers and beachgoers, and the new clubhouse will ensure lifesavers have the facilities they need to respond to incidents and keep people safe in the water.
This new fit-for-purpose facility will align with the heritage values of the area and reflect the commitment and dedication of club volunteers to the local community. Features will include modern community facilities, a swimming pool to improve water safety education and upgrades to the open space areas.
Hobsons Bay is undertaking considerable consultation with club members, as well as affected parties and the local community, to ensure that the new facility meets the needs of a growing local community, now and into the future.
