In the 2016-17 State Budget, the Victorian Government allocated $1.5 million for the construction of the new Edithvale Life Saving Club (LSC) facility, this was in addition to a contribution of $3.4 million from the Kingston City Council.
Situated in the local government area of Kingston, the Edithvale LSC plays an important role in the safety of swimmers and beachgoers, and the new clubhouse will ensure lifesavers have the facilities they need to respond to incidents and keep people safe in the water.
This new fit-for-purpose facility reflects the commitment and dedication of club volunteers to the local community, enables an expansion of local services, and supports the retention and recruitment of new volunteers. The new clubhouse features modern amenities, extra storage and training space to help the club continue to deliver its important service to the Kingston community.
The City of Kingston undertook considerable consultation with the Edithvale LSC and Life Saving Victoria, as well as the affected parties and the local community, to ensure that the new facility meets the needs of a growing local community, now and into the future.
