In the 2019-20 State Budget, the Victorian Government allocated $1.5m for an extension of the Carrum Surf Life Saving club (SLSC).
Situated in the local government area of Kingston, Carrum SLSC was founded in the late 1930s and has played an important role in ensuring safety of local swimmers. The clubhouse reopened in 2013 after relocating south as a result of increased boat traffic. Carrum SLSC completed 274 preventative actions in the 2018-19 year, with 34 requiring first aid.
The expansion will provide an increase of storage space for equipment, allowing for efficient use of space and further supporting effective lifesaving operations.
Ongoing consultations are taking place in collaboration with the City of Kingston and the Carrum SLSC to ensure the extension meets the needs of the growing local community, now and into the future.
