In the 2016-17 and 2018-19 State Budgets, as well as via the Community Support Fund in 2018-19, the Victorian Government allocated $3.3 million for the construction of the new Cape Paterson Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) facility.
Situated in the local government area of Bass Coast Shire, the Cape Paterson SLSC plays an important role in the safety of swimmers and beachgoers, and the new clubhouse will ensure lifesavers have the facilities they need to respond to incidents and keep people safe in the water.
This new fit-for-purpose facility will reflect the commitment and dedication of club volunteers to the local community and enable an expansion of local services, while supporting the retention and recruitment of new volunteers.
The new clubhouse will create a modern facility with training and change rooms, a community hall, and an administration office.
Cape Paterson SLSC has undertaken considerable consultation with the local council, as well as affected parties and the local community, to ensure that the new facility meets the needs of a growing local community, now and into the future.
