As part of the Victorian Government's $167.83 million investment in Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) facility infrastructure, VICSES Kilmore was allocated funds to acquire land and construct a new facility.
Located on the northern metropolitan growth area, and in a bushfire prone catchment, there is considerable growth in demand for emergency responses from this unit to assist the local community. In addition, the unit assists fire services, Ambulance Victoria with patient access, and Victoria Police with lighting, searches and traffic management.
The existing unit responds to an average of approximately 400 requests for assistance each year, including RAIR (Road, Air, Industrial and Rail) rescue responses. This is in addition to VICSES legislated responsibilities, providing service to major and nationally important transport corridors nearby.
In collaboration with VICSES, we are undertaking considerable consultation with the Kilmore unit, as well as the local council, affected parties and the local community (as required), to ensure that the new facility meets the needs of a growing community, now and into the future.
