Cherry Creek Youth Justice Centre
Kangaroo Drive, Cherry Creek
The Community Safety Building Authority is building a new youth justice centre to the west of Werribee, in the vicinity of Cherry Creek.
Providing a new youth justice facility is an essential part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to improving community safety and modernising Victoria’s youth justice system.
The new youth justice centre will play a key role in the rehabilitation of young people and children who are offending and improve community safety.
The $419 million project will provide more than 600 jobs on site, and further jobs in design, prefabrication and off-site works.
Project overview
The new 140-bed facility will include beds for remand and sentenced young offenders, a mental health unit and an intensive intervention unit. The facility has been designed to deliver a specialised facility that focuses on staff safety and reducing re-offending.

Community Advisory Group
A Community Advisory Group (CAG) including local residents, stakeholders and councillors from the City of Wyndham is helping to guide the development of the new youth justice centre and keep the local community informed as the project progresses.
Location
Victoria’s new youth justice centre is being built west of Werribee, in the vicinity of Cherry Creek. The site is approximately 11km from the Werribee train station and 1.5km north east of where Little River Road joins the Princes Freeway.

Career opportunities
The new youth justice centre will provide more than 600 jobs on site during construction, with further jobs in design, prefabrication and off-site works. More than 250 ongoing jobs will be created to operate the facility when it opens.
